Cliff is the Chairman and CEO of Templewater. Prior to founding Templewater, he was the Senior Vice President at Chow Tai Fook Enterprises Limited (CTFE), focusing on private equity transactions, global mergers and acquisitions, and corporate development, deploying over US$5 billion of capital during his five years with the firm.
Cliff was a director of Goshawk Aviation, Alinta Energy Ltd., CTF Energy Ltd., and CTF Financial Holdings Ltd. Prior to CTFE, he was with HSBC and Deutsche Bank investment banking division in Hong Kong. Presently, Cliff also serves as the Chairman of the Board of New World First Bus and CityBus, which are the largest bus operators on Hong Kong Island.

Nicolas joined the Investec Hong Kong office in Feb 2007, after three years working in the Specialised Finance division of Investec in Johannesburg. Prior to founding Templewater with Cliff, he was the Country Head of Investec Hong Kong and China.
Since 2007, Nicolas has managed the deployment of over US$1bn in capital across 40 equity-linked transactions throughout China, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

Michael joined Templewater in June 2020 bringing with him 16 years of experience in mergers & acquisitions, capital raising, joint ventures and IPO transactions, management, and as well as restructuring from his career in professional services firms, privately-owned and multinational enterprises.
Michael has been involved with Cliff and Investec in private equity transactions as early as 2011. Prior to joining Templewater, Michael served on the board of Tom Tailor Group (Germany) and St. John Knits International (USA) and held the CFO position at LANVIN Group (formerly “Fosun Fashion Group"). He was previously Head of Portfolio Management at Fosun Group Investment Management where he oversaw Fosun’s over 300 PE and VC investments globally.
Michael started his career with KPMG Australia, soon after obtaining his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne, and Michael was qualified as an accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants whilst at KPMG Australia. Michael is also an industry mentor with Tsinghua University Schwarzman College. Michael is based in Shanghai and fluent in English and Mandarin.

Yufeng is a Partner and Head of Impact Investing of Templewater and one of the founding members. He is also a Director of Bravo Transport, the largest bus operator on Hong Kong Island, and Wisdom Motor, a zero-emission commercial vehicle designer and manufacturer in China. He is responsible for overall business development targeting hydrogen and decarbonization opportunities for the group and portfolio companies. Yufeng joined Investec in London in 2016. He relocated to Hong Kong in 2018 and was the Executive President of Investec Hong Kong and China. Prior to joining Templewater, Yufeng had 16 years of experience across various industries including 12 years in banking and 4 years in manufacturing.
Yufeng is a CFA Charter Holder and holds a Doctorate Degree in Automatic Control and Systems Engineering from the University of Sheffield and a Bachelor of Engineering in Automatic Control from the South China University of Technology. Simon joined Templewater in May 2022, bringing with him 18 years of experience in private equity and investment banking and transaction experience in Asia Pacific, North America, Europe, and Israel. Simon has led buyout investments and exits representing over US$5bn of transaction value and has also participated in buyout investments representing over US$3bn of capital deployed and US$40bn of transaction value, and was a director for Compo Expert, Lumenis, and J.D. Power, respectively. Furthermore, Simon has worked with Templewater’s Founding Partner, Cliff Zhang, in transactions as early as 2011.
Before joining Templewater, Simon was a Partner at XJ Capital, where he headed the private equity buyout practice, and built and led a team in sourcing, executing, and managing investments with a value creation angle in China. Prior to XJ Capital, Simon was Managing Director of XIO Group, a global alternative investments platform that focused on cross-border buyouts. Prior to joining XIO Group, Simon was Executive Director at Goldman Sachs and was with the firm in both New York and Hong Kong in its Principal Investment Area division and Investment Banking Division, respectively.
Simon started his private equity career at Morgenthaler, a mid-market buyout firm based in the US, and received B.A. in Economics and Philosophy from Columbia University. Simon is based in Hong Kong and is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
Alfred joined Templewater in June 2023 to lead the firm’s decarbonization and impact investment strategy. Alfred brings with him 23 years of hydrogen industry expertise and executive operating experience from a long tenure at Ballard Power Systems (NASDAQ: BLDP), where he most recently served as CEO of Ballard China and previously as Managing Director of Asia Pacific. Over his career, he has led global teams focused on bringing hydrogen power solutions to new markets, and has spearheaded major strategic partnerships, equity investments and business expansions to deliver on transformational growth.
Alfred holds Bachelor of Applied Science and Master of Engineering degrees from the University of British Columbia, an MBA from Simon Fraser University, and has completed an executive leadership program on corporate governance from Stanford University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (non-practicing) in Canada. Alfred is based in Hong Kong and is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Karence joined the Investec Hong Kong office to oversee a team of six support staff in 2017. She has 22 years of experience across various roles in investment banking compliance and operations. Prior to joining Templewater, she was the Chief Operating Officer at CIMB Securities Limited in Hong Kong for 16 years, and prior to that, she was Vice President of Operations at KGI Asia Limited for four years.
Karence is responsible for compliance and overall oversight of the back-office functions including administration & operations support, human resources, regulatory reporting, finance and IT, etc.
Karence has an MBA from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor in Business Administration from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Karence is based in Hong Kong and is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
Chilie joined the Investec Hong Kong office in 2011 to oversee a team of five staff. He has 28 years of experience across various finance, tax, and general operations roles in investment banking. Prior to joining Templewater, Chilie served as a Director of Finance for BNP Paribas Services (HK) Ltd for 13 years and prior to that, he was a Senior Manager of Peregrine Management Ltd in the financial control function for five years.
Chilie is responsible for finance, tax, and general operations functions including management reporting, regulatory financial reporting, treasury function, tax planning, human resources, administration, and IT, etc.

Ting joined Investec Hong Kong (Principal Investments) in September 2007, structuring and executing over 40 equity and debt transactions. Since 2007 and during his tenure at Investec Asia, Ting has overseen the deployment of circ. US$600m capital in transactions throughout the Asia Pacific region.
Ting completed a Bachelor of Economics from Shanghai University, and an MBA from Wits Business School. Ting is based in Hong Kong and is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Shanghainese.

Stephen joined the Investec Hong Kong office in January 2017 in the Principal Investments team and has since led a number of transactions, including the Templewater private equity fund’s investments into SC Lowy and Bravo Transport.
Stephen is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Templewater’s portfolio company, Bravo Transport, the holding company of the Citybus and New World First Bus operations, a company with over 5,000 employees.

Baidi joined Templewater in June 2023, bringing with her 10 years of investment experience across broader technology sector in Asia Pacific, North America and Europe. Baidi has led and executed investments and exits representing over US$5bn of transaction value, with major buyout investments such as Sumo Digital, Funcom, and growth investments such as Discord, Reddit, Policybazaar, and MX Play for which she served as director.
Before joining Templewater, Baidi was Director at Tencent Investment, where she led multiple initiatives in sourcing, executing and managing investments in key regions such as India and Europe, and in major tech segments across multiple geographies. Prior to Tencent, Baidi worked as operations manager in Uber China, and associate at A Capital, a cross-border private equity firm focusing on investing in European midcaps with value creation angle in China.
Baidi attended MBA at Kellogg, Northwestern University in the US, and received dual BBA from ESSEC in France and Tongji University in China. Baidi is fluent in English, Mandarin, and French.
Adriano joined Templewater in January 2022 with 8 years of experience in management consulting across Asia and Europe.
Prior to joining Templewater, Adriano managed numerous consulting engagements across various industries, with a focus on TMT (Telecoms, Media, and Technology), Financial Services, and Consumer Goods.
He served a broad customer base, including investment firms, financial institutions, telecommunication operators, and multinational corporations.
His expertise includes strategy development, business planning and execution, M&A support / commercial due diligence, and post-merger integration.
Adriano started his career with Value Partners Management Consulting in Italy and moved to Hong Kong in 2016 to serve clients in the Asia Pacific Region.
Adriano holds an MSc in Management Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan. Adriano is based in Hong Kong and is fluent in English and Italian.

Mike joined Templewater in July 2022 with 8 years of investment banking and buyout private equity experience across North America and Asia. Prior to joining Templewater, Mike was a Vice President at XJ Capital where he helped lead the execution of private equity transactions. Prior to XJ Capital, Mike was with Levine Leitchtman Capital Partners and Sunstone Partners in the United States where he focused on buyout transactions in industrials, business services, and TMT sectors. Mike began his career with Deutsche Bank in New York.

Jason joined Templewater in January 2021 as Vice President and Head of Investor Relations after 11 years of experience across various industries including real estate private equity, asset management, integrated resorts, and hospitality. Fiona joins Templewater in March 2023 with 9 years’ experience in sustainability field. She is primarily responsible to lead the development, implementation, and management of the firm's ESG strategy across the whole investment cycle, aiming to drive the firm's commitment to sustainable investing.
Prior joining the firm, Fiona worked in a sustainability consultancy. She mainly served financial clients, provided ESG advisory services such as mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, benchmarking, policy and framework development, metrics and KPI setting.
Fiona holds a Master in Corporate Environmental Governance from the University of Hong Kong and received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management and Technology from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She has undergone GRI Standards Exam and a member of HKIQEP. She is based in Hong Kong and is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
Stephen was with Investec for 39 years in various capacities and CEO from 1996 to 2018, and currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of Investec Limited, Investec PLC, and the South African Banking Association. He is also the Chairman of BidCorp Limited, Bud Group (Pty) Ltd, Chairman of IEP Group (Pty) Ltd, a Non-Executive Director of Irongate Group, and Co-Chair of Youth Employment Service.
Stephen’s previous roles include: Chairman of the South African Banking Association, a Non-Executive Director of The Bidvest Group Limited, Director of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, a member of the Financial Markets Advisory Board, and Chairman of the Independent Bankers Association. Stanley is an experienced and well-connected aviation professional in the Greater China corporate circle. He has previously served as the Deputy CEO of New World Services Limited, CEO of Airport Authority Hong Kong, and the CEO of Hong Kong’s Dragon Airlines Limited. Currently, he is an Independent Non-Executive Director (INED) of Air China Limited, Beijing Capital International Airport, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, China Power International Development, and a Director of Hong Kong-based Greater Bay Airlines. He is also a member of the General Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce.
Stanley has also served in a number of advisory committees both in Hong Kong and Mainland China, which included memberships on the Greater Pearl River Delta Business Council, the Commission on Strategic Development of the Hong Kong SAR Government, Aviation Advisory Board, Aviation Development Advisory Committee, Vocational Training Council, the Hong Kong Logistics Development Council, and the Hong Kong Tourism Board. Philippe is a seasoned and prominent professional in the waste management industry. With more than 30 years of business development, commercial, EPC, operational, and M&A experience in environmental and waste management services in the Asia Pacific region, France, Ireland, and Portugal.
Philippe has managed several waste management, integrated recycling, and waste-to-energy project companies and achieved financial returns for these projects. In the past, he was the General Manager of Veolia Environmental Services, Hong Kong, and Chairman of Veolia Environmental Services Asia Recycling, Hong Kong.
Philippe is an Adviser to the French Ministry of Commerce since 1995. He is a Chartered Engineer (IMechE) and holds an MBA HEC (Hautes Etudes Commerciales) and a Master of Engineering ICAM (Institut Catholique des Arts et Métiers). Philippe is fluent in English and French.
Rob Campbell is an active clean energy advocate with 20+ years of expertise in the industry. Rob has global experience with innovative and pioneering technologies aimed at accelerating decarbonization, reducing pollution, and enabling energy security.
Most recently, Rob led as the Chief Commercial Officer for the hydrogen fuel cell leader Ballard Power Systems as their Chief Commercial Officer. Rob's responsibilities at Ballard included global business development, sales, marketing, product line management, and after-sales service activities in the Company’s key Bus, Truck, Rail, Marine, Off-Road, and Stationary Power markets.
With considerable experience in global business development for technology-based products, Rob has created business opportunities in the US, UK, Europe, China, Japan, and India markets. He has deep knowledge of high-growth markets and engineering-based capital equipment sales to sophisticated global customers.
Rob was previously the President and CEO of SoloPower Systems, an innovative thin-film PV company. Prior to SoloPower his career included: SVP of Business Development at Energy Conversion Devices and Solar Integrated Technologies in the US and EVP of Sales and Marketing at Hydrogenics and Stuart Energy in Ontario, Canada.
Rob has earned an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors, an MBA in Finance and Marketing from York University’s Schulich School of Business, and a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Queen’s University (Ontario). He is a licensed Engineer with the Professional Engineer’s Association of Ontario. Rob is active in the hydrogen industry through board and advisory roles and related new business opportunities.
Leo is the General Manager and Executive Director at CIMC Enric (3899.HK), a subordinate to the segment of energy, chemical engineering, and food equipment of China International Marine Containers (“CIMC”) (2039.HK).
Leo first joined CIMC as an Officer of the quality control department in 1997 and has held multiple senior positions at CIMC Group including Sales Manager, Deputy General Manager, Assistant to General Manager, and General Manager.
Currently, Leo serves as the Chairman of the board of CIMC Safeway Technologies Co., Ltd. He has also been the Vice President of the China Container Industry Association since 2019 and holds directorships in certain subsidiaries of the CIMC Group.

James is the Executive Director of the Chinney Group. The Group’s four publicly listed Hong Kong subsidiaries: Hon Kwok Land (0160.HK), Chinney Investments (0216.HK), Chinney Alliance (0385.HK), and Chinney Kin Wing (1556.HK) are focused on high-tech Engineering and Real Estate. The businesses range from building their own 80-storey Hon Kwok Tower in Shenzhen to developing and operating Hong Kong’s largest data center to installing the air traffic control radar at the Hong Kong Airport. This 2900+ person family business was founded by his great grandfather in Nanjing in the 1920’s to build China’s railway system.

Frank, as the Senior Vice President Asia, is a member of the executive management group of Hexagon Purus ASA (HPUR), a daughter company of Norwegian Hexagon Composites ASA, which is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange. The Hexagon Group of companies is a world leader in composite high-pressure storage for energy gases with plants in Norway, North America, Germany, and China. In CIMC–HEXAGON, a JV between CIMC ENRIC and Hexagon Purus, Frank holds positions as the Chairman of the Board of the China-based Type 4 cylinder production company and he is a board member in the Hong Kong-based JV holdings.
Frank joined Hexagon in 2005 and held management positions in Sales and Business Unit management both in Europe and US. For over 30 years he is dedicated to energy transition and cleaner air with natural gas vehicles, renewable gas, and hydrogen in the Asian markets.
Frank holds a Master of Mechanical Engineering degree as Dipl.Ing. from the German Mannheim University of Applied Sciences, and a Bachelor’s degree in German Law from the University of Constance.
Prof. Yang Wang took office as Vice President for Institutional Advancement of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology ("HKUST") on 1 October 2020. He joined the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology as the Head of the Department of Mathematics in 2014 and he became the Dean of School of Science in 2016.
Prof. Wang is an internationally respected scholar with wide-ranging research interests, having published over 100 research journal papers in both pure and interdisciplinary mathematics. During his tenure as Dean of Science, Prof. Wang founded the HKUST Big Data Institute and launched the popular Big Data Technology MSc program.
Prof. Wang received his Bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Science and Technology of China, and his Ph.D. degree from Harvard University. He was a faculty member of the Georgia Institute of Technology, before becoming the Department Chair of Mathematics at Michigan State University.
Charleston Sin is a champion for innovation and the disruptive application of new technologies in local and international communities. As a 25-year veteran of the information technology and telecommunications industry, he now serves as the Executive Director of the MIT Hong Kong Innovation Node, which organizes and advocates for innovation in Hong Kong and the Asia Pacific.
Prior to joining MIT, Charleston held executive positions in research & development, product management, and sales & marketing at VMware, Cisco Systems, and Nortel Networks in the United States, Canada, Asia Pacific, and Greater China. Simon joined Templewater in May 2022, bringing with him 18 years of experience in private equity and investment banking and transaction experience in Asia Pacific, North America, Europe, and Israel. Simon has led buyout investments and exits representing over US$5bn of transaction value and has also participated in buyout investments representing over US$3bn of capital deployed and US$40bn of transaction value, and was a director for Compo Expert, Lumenis, and J.D. Power, respectively. Furthermore, Simon has worked with Templewater’s Founding Partner, Cliff Zhang, in transactions as early as 2011.
Before joining Templewater, Simon was a Partner at XJ Capital, where he headed the private equity buyout practice, and built and led a team in sourcing, executing, and managing investments with a value creation angle in China. Prior to XJ Capital, Simon was Managing Director of XIO Group, a global alternative investments platform that focused on cross-border buyouts. Prior to joining XIO Group, Simon was Executive Director at Goldman Sachs and was with the firm in both New York and Hong Kong in its Principal Investment Area division and Investment Banking Division, respectively.
Simon started his private equity career at Morgenthaler, a mid-market buyout firm based in the US, and received B.A. in Economics and Philosophy from Columbia University. Simon is based in Hong Kong and is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
Alfred joined Templewater in June 2023 to lead the firm’s decarbonization and impact investment strategy. Alfred brings with him 23 years of hydrogen industry expertise and executive operating experience from a long tenure at Ballard Power Systems (NASDAQ: BLDP), where he most recently served as CEO of Ballard China and previously as Managing Director of Asia Pacific. Over his career, he has led global teams focused on bringing hydrogen power solutions to new markets, and has spearheaded major strategic partnerships, equity investments and business expansions to deliver on transformational growth.
Alfred holds Bachelor of Applied Science and Master of Engineering degrees from the University of British Columbia, an MBA from Simon Fraser University, and has completed an executive leadership program on corporate governance from Stanford University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (non-practicing) in Canada. Alfred is based in Hong Kong and is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Karence joined the Investec Hong Kong office to oversee a team of six support staff in 2017. She has 22 years of experience across various roles in investment banking compliance and operations. Prior to joining Templewater, she was the Chief Operating Officer at CIMB Securities Limited in Hong Kong for 16 years, and prior to that, she was Vice President of Operations at KGI Asia Limited for four years.
Karence is responsible for compliance and overall oversight of the back-office functions including administration & operations support, human resources, regulatory reporting, finance and IT, etc.
Karence has an MBA from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor in Business Administration from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Karence is based in Hong Kong and is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
Chilie joined the Investec Hong Kong office in 2011 to oversee a team of five staff. He has 28 years of experience across various finance, tax, and general operations roles in investment banking. Prior to joining Templewater, Chilie served as a Director of Finance for BNP Paribas Services (HK) Ltd for 13 years and prior to that, he was a Senior Manager of Peregrine Management Ltd in the financial control function for five years.
Chilie is responsible for finance, tax, and general operations functions including management reporting, regulatory financial reporting, treasury function, tax planning, human resources, administration, and IT, etc.
Chilie is a Certified Practicing Accountant from CPA Australia and a Certified Public Accountant from HKICPA. Chilie holds a Bachelor in Business from Swinburne Institute of Technology, Australia. Chilie is based in Hong Kong and is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
Ting joined Investec Hong Kong (Principal Investments) in September 2007, structuring and executing over 40 equity and debt transactions. Since 2007 and during his tenure at Investec Asia, Ting has overseen the deployment of circ. US$600m capital in transactions throughout the Asia Pacific region.
Ting completed a Bachelor of Economics from Shanghai University, and an MBA from Wits Business School. Ting is based in Hong Kong and is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Shanghainese.

Stephen joined the Investec Hong Kong office in January 2017 in the Principal Investments team and has since led a number of transactions, including the Templewater private equity fund’s investments into SC Lowy and Bravo Transport.
Stephen is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Templewater’s portfolio company, Bravo Transport, the holding company of the Citybus and New World First Bus operations, a company with over 5,000 employees.
Stephen holds a Bachelor of Business Science in Finance & Accounting and a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Cape Town. He is also a qualified Chartered Accountant. Stephen is based in Hong Kong and fluent in English, and conversational in Cantonese and Afrikaans.

Baidi joined Templewater in June 2023, bringing with her 10 years of investment experience across broader technology sector in Asia Pacific, North America and Europe. Baidi has led and executed investments and exits representing over US$5bn of transaction value, with major buyout investments such as Sumo Digital, Funcom, and growth investments such as Discord, Reddit, Policybazaar, and MX Play for which she served as director.
Before joining Templewater, Baidi was Director at Tencent Investment, where she led multiple initiatives in sourcing, executing and managing investments in key regions such as India and Europe, and in major tech segments across multiple geographies. Prior to Tencent, Baidi worked as operations manager in Uber China, and associate at A Capital, a cross-border private equity firm focusing on investing in European midcaps with value creation angle in China.
Baidi attended MBA at Kellogg, Northwestern University in the US, and received dual BBA from ESSEC in France and Tongji University in China. Baidi is fluent in English, Mandarin, and French.
Adriano joined Templewater in January 2022 with 8 years of experience in management consulting across Asia and Europe.
Prior to joining Templewater, Adriano managed numerous consulting engagements across various industries, with a focus on TMT (Telecoms, Media, and Technology), Financial Services, and Consumer Goods.
He served a broad customer base, including investment firms, financial institutions, telecommunication operators, and multinational corporations.
His expertise includes strategy development, business planning and execution, M&A support / commercial due diligence, and post-merger integration.
Adriano started his career with Value Partners Management Consulting in Italy and moved to Hong Kong in 2016 to serve clients in the Asia Pacific Region.
Adriano holds an MSc in Management Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan. Adriano is based in Hong Kong and is fluent in English and Italian.

Mike joined Templewater in July 2022 with 8 years of investment banking and buyout private equity experience across North America and Asia. Prior to joining Templewater, Mike was a Vice President at XJ Capital where he helped lead the execution of private equity transactions. Prior to XJ Capital, Mike was with Levine Leitchtman Capital Partners and Sunstone Partners in the United States where he focused on buyout transactions in industrials, business services, and TMT sectors. Mike began his career with Deutsche Bank in New York.

Jason joined Templewater in January 2021 as Vice President and Head of Investor Relations after 11 years of experience across various industries including real estate private equity, asset management, integrated resorts, and hospitality. Fiona joins Templewater in March 2023 with 9 years’ experience in sustainability field. She is primarily responsible to lead the development, implementation, and management of the firm's ESG strategy across the whole investment cycle, aiming to drive the firm's commitment to sustainable investing.
Prior joining the firm, Fiona worked in a sustainability consultancy. She mainly served financial clients, provided ESG advisory services such as mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, benchmarking, policy and framework development, metrics and KPI setting.
Fiona holds a Master in Corporate Environmental Governance from the University of Hong Kong and received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management and Technology from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She has undergone GRI Standards Exam and a member of HKIQEP. She is based in Hong Kong and is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
